The B.Sc. Applied Mathematics and Statistics program offered by the School of Liberal Studies (SOLS) at UPES is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of applied mathematics and statistics. The program aims to equip students with a solid foundation in both disciplines, enabling them to pursue diverse career paths in academia, research, industry, administrative services, and more. The faculty members at SOLS combine their expertise in applied mathematics and statistics to develop a unified curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
The program covers a wide range of courses, including calculus, linear algebra, probability theory, statistical inference, data analysis, optimization, mathematical modeling, and numerical methods. These courses ensure that students develop a strong grasp of mathematical theories, statistical methods, and computational techniques. Additionally, students have the opportunity to pursue specialized areas of interest through elective courses, allowing them to tailor their studies to align with their career goals and personal interests. They also have the option to pursue a minor in Economics and Data Science or Psychology.
Hands-on learning experiences play a crucial role in the program, as students actively engage in practical projects, research initiatives, and internships. These opportunities enable students to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, enhancing their understanding and skills. The program emphasizes analytical and problem-solving skills, preparing graduates to tackle complex challenges in fields such as finance, economics, engineering, technology, and data science.
